Deepak Chopra is a medical and health expert focusing on spirituality and personal happiness. He has written and produced many books and DVD’s. In regards to happiness, Deepak Chopra looks to the ancients and how they solved the mystery of happiness. What has been taught throughout the ages applies today as much as ever.
I first became interested in Deepak Chopra many years ago when I heard him talk about health, food, and medicine. As a medical doctor he came to the realization one day that he was a professional drug pusher. The medical science solution to most everything is a drug. He realized that the drug treats the symptoms and not the root causes of the ailment. By looking to food and alternative medical practices, he was able to get patients off of the drugs and healed holistically.

Deepak Chopra Teaches About Happiness
In his DVD “The Happiness Prescription,” he lays out the keys to happiness and well-being. He conveys the teachings of Buddha with the 4 Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path to Enlightenment, and the 10 Keys to Happiness. The 10 Keys to Happiness fall in line with many of the teachings of the marriage experts featured on this site.
One of the keys is to live in the present, in the moment. We often find fault with the situation we are in. Deepak Chopra turns it around and asks what can be wrong with this moment? It is as it should be. Don’t struggle with it and allow yourself to be fully immersed in it learning everything you can from it. The marriage experts often talk about being in the present and aware of everything going on, the environment, your spouse, children, weather, everything. By being aware and present we can pick up on things that we would otherwise let slip past us.
Another of the 10 keys to happiness is to relinquish your need for external approval. Don’t base your happiness on others or other things. Happiness comes from within and an understanding of who you really are.
Deepak Chopra has a wealth of knowledge shared on his website and social properties. Enjoy.
